Lipids in the Context of High School Education
Staníček, Jan ; Martínek, Václav (advisor) ; Teplá, Milada (referee)
For more than 15 years, in the Czech Republic there has been the Grammar School Educational Program (here known as RVP G), which forces teachers to use more didactic and pedagogical knowledge in teaching. Unfortunately, suitable materials are not always available to provide such training (e.g., for the topic of "lipids"). This work then deals with the concept of lipids in textbooks and theses, and especially with the creation of new materials on selected subtopics to lipids and their testing in teaching. The results of this work will show that the topic of lipids is not processed well enough in selected textbooks according to selected criteria. Probably because the textbooks used are outdated. Other results will show that other authors have already solved this problem in their final theses by creating new materials that meet the selected criteria. Unfortunately, current lipid teaching aids lack recent practical biochemical knowledge, tasks to fix this knowledge and develop practical skills. Thus, this work aims to contribute to the pool of educational materials by creating new materials that will meet the requirements mentioned above, cowering these main topics - atherosclerosis, diseases of affluence, cholesterol, metabolism and relationships of macronutrients in the human body, omega-3 fatty...
Employment of mobile devices in chemistry education
Švehla, Martin ; Šmejkal, Petr (advisor) ; Teplý, Pavel (referee)
This diploma thesis is focused on the use of mobile devices in chemistry education. Describes various mobile devices, including different operating systems and technology and shows huge potential that these devices bring to education. It also includes an overview of existing educational programs with a chemical theme on mobile devices. Part of this work was to create a custom supportive program Chemical helper for mobile devices, which can be used in chemistry education, laboratory and also in everyday life.
Safety and risks in high school laboratory
Souček, Vlastimil ; Šmejkal, Petr (advisor) ; Teplý, Pavel (referee)
Czech Law concerning work safety in high school laboratory in the Czech Republic is constantly changing, while these changes in the law might go unnoticed by high school teachers. These teachers are often not informed which law is currently in effect and if it has any impact on their teaching in chemical laboratories. Therefore, this work presents compiled laws that influence teaching in chemical laboratories, translates their meaning into comprehensible sentences and then puts them together to a summary of these laws. To keep this information up to date, a basic web design is included in this work that will be put on web www.studiumchemie.cz, where it will be actualized by author of this thesis. On this web high school teachers will have the opportunity to easily access both original formulations and translated meaning of the law. Basic instructions for first aid in chemical laboratories, especially concerning exposition to dangerous chemical compounds will also be included in this work. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Educational Project Saccharides Topic Work in Chemistry for high school
Šedivá, Renata ; Šulcová, Renata (advisor) ; Součková, Danuše (referee)
Charles University in Prague - Faculty of Science Department of Teaching and Didactics of Chemistry Albertov 3, 128 40 Praha 2, Czech Republic Educational project Saccharides Topic Work in Chemistry for high School Bc. Renata Šedivá sedivarenata@gmail.com This diploma thesis is a suggestion of educational project Saccharides classifiable into education of Chemistry in 3rd year of four-year grammar school. In the first part there is a research of literature sources concerning the issue project education. The Following part is a suggestion of educational project Saccharides, its product are lessons about the topic saccharides, which are designed, prepared and taught by the students. The suggestion of the project contains a timetable of the project, instructions and methodology for individual parts of the project (motivation, preparation of lessons, laboratory works, presentation of lessons, final practice, test and reflection), methodological notes and documentation to the implementation of the project at Grammar school in Dvůr Králové nad Labem.
Selection and development of new educational materials for high school support webpage www.studiumchemie.cz
Brenner, David ; Šmejkal, Petr (advisor) ; Teplý, Pavel (referee)
This diploma thesis is focused on development and production of functional parts and new materials for the purpose of supporting educational website www.studiumchemie.cz on evaluation of its operation. The changes were made in graphical, structural and functional parts of website, which were designed based on the analysis of behavior of visitors to the website and by direct reaction of visitors. Changes were related to structure of database of chemical experiments or creating new features for registered users, such as evaluation of materials or personification of user profile. In cooperation with specialists have been incorporated several new materials, focusing on the issues of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). In addition to that, two new games have been prepared - Chemical pentathlon and Identify molecules. New materials should be used to expand the portfolio of educational materials on the website. Furthermore, the administration interface has been created and designed to meet the needs of editorial contributors site without prior programming experience. Evaluation of the statistics associated with the operation of the site showed that web traffic continues to grow. The most visited parts of the site are database of educational materials and videos of chemical experiments. The current site traffic is...
Alternative devices for data collection and possibilities of employment in chemistry education
Staníček, Jan ; Šmejkal, Petr (advisor) ; Stratilová Urválková, Eva (referee)
Probeware already has a long history and it is now more recognised as an effective utility in chemistry education. One of the main obstacles for probeware to expand is the lack of the financial means which is one of the main reasons why they are still plenty of teachers that do not use probeware in chemistry education. To solve this issue it is important then to find a cheaper replacement for original probeware so every teacher can use it. The rise of e-shops and cheap international shipping led to the appearance of cheap alternatives to relatively expensive probeware and to professional devices for instrumental methods. It is then vital to find these alternatives and to test their potencial of becoming a fine replacement of the original probeware and that is also the main topic of this bachelor thesis. The results have shown that these cheaper devices already exist and by buying them a lot of financial means can be saved. This alternative probeware provides quality reproducible outputs based on real expectation which are not that much different from the outputs of the original probeware. They are also some disadvantages like long delivery time of goods from foreign e-shops and its complaint. As well as, advanced functions for data analysis are not available in the case of devices with autonomous...
The use of mobile applications in the teaching of chemistry
Hrubá, Běla Marie ; Teplá, Milada (advisor) ; Šmejkal, Petr (referee)
The diploma thesis focuses on teaching of Chemistry using mobile phones at primary and secondary schools. The theoretical part is dedicated to the research articles and final theses focused on the topic. Moreover, this thesis shows whether and how school curricula and school regulations dedicate to the topic of mobile phones in education. The practical part of the thesis introduces a research of available chemical educational applications and also an analysis of chosen applications based on predetermined criteria. All of the researched applications are divided according to their topics and arranged in a table summarizing their main content. Furthermore, this thesis describes a trial lesson with implementation of mobile phones and its evaluation. This part also includes all materials used in the pedagogical experiment.
